Storage and shelf life of lyophilised peptides
Stored freeze-dried, peptides stay stable for a long time. Cool, dry and dark is the rule of thumb; refrigerated once dissolved.
In powder form
Lyophilised (freeze-dried) peptides are most stable as a powder. Kept cool, dry and dark, away from light and moisture, they remain good for a long time. For longer periods the freezer is often chosen.
After reconstitution
Once a peptide is dissolved, it is kept in the refrigerator and has a shorter shelf life than the powder. Repeated warming and cooling is avoided.
Light and heat
Heat and direct light speed up degradation. A steady, cool spot without temperature swings helps preserve quality. This concerns storage in a research setting.
